What does everyone want? everyone seems to be busy doing something, very active all the time. Where does the action start from?
What’s the source of the action? is it a thought? what kind of a thought? A desire? What kind of desire?
It seems to me that everyone is seeking a better life – better defined as happier, satisfied, pleasurable, comfortable, complete, and perfect.
If you observe these attributes closely – a complete, happier, pleasant, satisfied, and perfectly comfortable life – describes a peaceful life. If a person feels complete and his life perfect he must be at peace as he would not desire anything more so there will be no activity to achieve anything more.
So in a sense, everyone is seeking peace in their life – a peaceful state being completely satisfied with the way things are not willing to perform any activity to disturb the perfection.
It’s very easy to understand – when everything is perfect and a person feels completely satisfied it renders him actionless. Because there’s no point in making an effort, you can’t add to perfection and completeness. What do you do to what’s already complete and perfect? So the will to make an effort and act disappears.
In the same way, the will to act appears when a person doesn’t feel complete, nor does he consider the life situation perfect or satisfied with it. Which means he is disturbed and not at peace with his life situation. This motivates him to make an effort and act to bring changes to make his life situation better towards completeness, satisfaction, and perfection.
So all his actions are towards making his life a peaceful one. Complete, Satisfying, and Perfect.
